(Douglas County, CO) This past Saturday, just after 8:00 p.m., #DCSO deputies responded to a report of a burglary at a house on Foxhill Place in Highlands Ranch. The neighbors reported seeing the suspect on the property trying to get into the home. Deputies searched the house and the area but did not locate the suspect. As deputies were walking to their cars, getting ready to leave the scene, the suspect drove up the street towards the deputies and almost hit them before turning and accelerating away from the area. He even waved to the deputies while he was speeding away.
Deputies were able to follow the car, and when they attempted to pin the suspect in, he backed into a patrol car and drove off with no regard for anyone around him. The driver continued to drive recklessly, going through multiple stop lights and exceeding the speed limit. He finally stopped in a parking lot on South Park Circle, just north of County Line Rd and Broadway, where he was taken into custody. Video: https://youtu.be/ppMeKUEReFQ

I commend the deputies for their quick, decisive actions in safely apprehending the individual without further harm to the public. This incident is a reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face daily protecting our community, and I am thankful for their courage and professionalism in the line of duty.”
The driver, Ron Miller, age 67, faces charges of attempted vehicular assault, vehicular eluding, reckless endangerment, DUI, and reckless driving. The suspect is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
