(Highlands Ranch, CO) Following a thorough investigation, detectives with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office have arrested two individuals in connection with a violent dispute that followed a traffic collision in a school drop-off line.
39-year-old Jacinto Louis Herrera has been charged with assault in the second degree, disorderly conduct, and driving under restraint. He was arrested on September 15, 2026 with the assistance of the U.S, Marshals Service Colorado Violent Offender Task Force.
45-year-old Jeremy John Larranaga was arrested on the date of the incident and has been charged with assault in the first degree, child abuse, assault in the second degree, menacing, disorderly conduct, and reckless driving.
On August 13, 2026, at approximately 7:34 a.m., Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a physical altercation that initially began as a traffic collision in the parking lot of Cresthill Middle School, before spilling over into an nearby neighborhood.
School Resource Officer Deputy Corbin immediately ran from the school to the scene of the disturbance. He separated the two men, recovered a knife, and rendered first aid to one of the individuals who had sustained a stab wound, applying a chest seal and emergency wound packing prior to the arrival of paramedics.
Following the multi-week investigation conducted by DCSO detectives to gather evidence and review the circumstances of the altercation, charges have officially been recommended for both individuals involved.
