(Douglas County, CO) Shortly before 6:00 a.m. on July 25, 2024, Douglas County deputies were called to the Northridge Recreation Center, located at 8800 S. Broadway Street in Highlands Ranch, following a report of a vehicle trespass that had just occurred. The reporting party stated that a suspect had fled into the nearby greenbelt.
Once deputies got to the area, they spotted two suspects who ran in different directions. After a short foot pursuit, one suspect was taken into custody. The deputies continued their search for the second suspect, utilizing drones and available deputies in the area. Their tenacity paid off. More than two hours later, the second suspect was taken into custody without incident. Video of foot pursuit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vL5EDNFMfVE

Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said, “Foot pursuits are one of the most dangerous things our deputies do. I’m extremely proud of them. Our Graves A and B teams worked seamlessly. Our day shift came on and immediately joined the search. They didn’t give up and relentlessly pursued these criminals until both were in custody. We are committed to keeping our community safe and taking criminals off the streets of Douglas County.”
We would like to commend the victim, witnesses, and residents who provided valuable descriptions and information in the search for the suspects.
