Where: Highlands Ranch Law Enforcement Training Center, 9008 US HWY 85 North, Littleton, CO

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting an open house for those interested in becoming a Reserve Deputy with the agency.  The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has 10 openings for the Reserve Unit and is looking for individuals who want to serve and give back to their community.  The open house will include information on our upcoming Reserve Academy, the application process, an address by Sheriff Spurlock and/or Undersheriff Kluth and an opportunity to speak with current Reserve Deputies.  There will be an opportunity to tour the academy training facility.

This academy is only a Reserve Academy and you will only have a commission as a Reserve Deputy for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.  It will not allow you to seek employment as a full-time law enforcement officer in Colorado.

The academy will run from August 9, 2016 to February 7, 2017.  Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights, from 6pm – 10 pm, and every other Saturday.  Please note these dates are tentative and could change.

The application for Reserve Deputy will open on March 14 and close on March 25.  You will need to complete the application by going to our website, http://www.dcsheriff.net/sheriffs-office/divisions/professional-standards/hiring-unit/.  Those selected to go on in the testing process will have to take a written and physical agility test on Tuesday, April 12, starting at 9am.  For more information on the Reserve Unit, please visit our website http://www.dcsheriff.net/sheriffs-office/volunteering/reserve-deputies/.

Please RSVP with Cpl. Barry Tipton at BTipton@dcsheriff.net.  It is not necessary to attend the open house to apply.
