DCSO, OEM, and Emergency Services Unit Respond to Forest Fire Near Turkey Tracks

Douglas County, CO – On April 12, 2025, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of Emergency Management responded with the U.S. Forest Service and Teller County Sheriff’s Office to a forest fire burning near the Turkey Tracks Shooting Range, close to Highway 67 and Rainbow Falls. Campers at Rainbow Falls Campground were evacuated.

A helicopter assisted with suppression efforts. Conditions were hot, dry, and windy, which caused the fire to spread quickly and aggressively. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
