DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — As the 4th of July approaches, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents to celebrate the holiday responsibly and safely. While fireworks are a traditional favorite, they pose significant risks, including sparking wildfires, causing serious injuries, and creating intense stress for neighbors, local pets, and veterans.
Under Stage 1 Restrictions, personal fireworks are not allowed. Residents are strictly reminded that all fireworks that leave the ground or explode are illegal in the state of Colorado.
To help keep communities safe and keep emergency lines clear, Douglas County is launching its temporary Fireworks Hotline. If you witness the use of illegal fireworks and can provide a specific location, please report it directly to the hotline:
-
Fireworks Hotline: 303-814-7118
-
Dates of Operation: July 3rd through July 5th
-
Hours: 6:00 p.m. to Midnight each evening
The hotline will be fully staffed during these peak holiday hours to receive and process fireworks-related complaints efficiently.
Reporting Outside Hotline Hours
Outside of the specified dates and times, citizens should not call 9-1-1 for fireworks infractions. Instead, please report fireworks-related concerns through the Douglas Regional 9-1-1 non-emergency line at 303-660-7500.
Please reserve 9-1-1 strictly for active fires, medical emergencies, or other immediate threats to life and safety. Let’s work together to ensure a safe, peaceful, and happy Independence Day for all of Douglas County.
