Douglas County, CO — The results are in, and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is proud to share the success of last Saturday’s National Drug Take Back Day. Thanks to the strong participation of our community, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Douglas County Health Department, collected an impressive 1,148 pounds of unwanted, unused, and expired medications.

This event plays a critical role in preventing prescription drug misuse and keeping potentially dangerous substances out of the wrong hands. Proper disposal also protects our environment by keeping medications out of our water systems and landfills.

Thank you to Highlands Ranch Water, Highlands Ranch Metro District, the City of Castle Pines, and Castle Pines North Metro District for their valued partnership in making this event a success.

If you missed this event, you still have options. Year-round medication drop-off locations are available throughout Colorado and Douglas County. Follow this link to find a secure disposal site near you: Safe Disposal – Take Meds SeriouslyTake Meds Seriously
