Douglas County Law Enforcement to Compete in Second Annual “Battle of the Badges” Blood Drive

(Douglas County, CO) — After an overwhelmingly successful first year, the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive is back for round two, bringing local first responders and the community together once again to help save lives during the second annual Douglas County Battle of the Badges Blood Drive March 24-25.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with Vitalant to host a friendly competition to encourage the community to help save lives this spring. Parker Police, South Metro Fire Rescue, Castle Rock Fire Rescue, Castle Rock Police, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Lone Tree Police Department will be participating. Donors will decide who will bring home the trophy for the most blood donations by voting for their favorite: Team Law or Team Fire.

“Douglas County has always been a community that steps up when it matters most. Whether you’re supporting Team Law or Team Fire, every donation helps save lives. We’re proud to partner with our fellow first responders and Vitalant to bring the community together for such an important cause,” said Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly.

Last year’s event exceeded expectations, with collective efforts resulting in 212 units of blood donated over two days. One donation has the potential to save up to three lives, so countless patients benefit from the donors who roll up a sleeve to give blood at this event.

Building on that momentum, this year’s Battle of the Badges will take place:

Tuesday, March 24
The Parker Fieldhouse
18700 Plaza Drive
12:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Sign up here

Wednesday, March 25
Douglas County Fairgrounds
500 Fairgrounds Rd

**The trophy presentation to the winning team will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Fairgrounds. **

Regardless of who wins bragging rights this year, the entire community wins by teaming up together to make a lifesaving difference. Donors of all types are needed to help patients of all blood types. The need is greatest for type O, the most transfused and most compatible when a patient’s type isn’t immediately known.

Virtual Blood Drive Option:

Donors interested in supporting their favorite team but can’t make it on the drive days can schedule a blood donation at any of Vitalant’s 10 convenient locations or area blood drives between March 1 – March 25 using either Team Law or Team Fire’s Virtual Blood Drive link when booking their appointment:
