(Douglas County, CO) Jason Kennedy has officially been sworn in as Undersheriff of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. His vision, integrity, and heart for service will continue to guide the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office with strength and compassion.

Undersheriff Kennedy brings over 33 years of distinguished public safety service and a legacy of leadership, professionalism, and dedication to the people of Douglas County. His career began in 1992 as a Detentions Deputy in Castle Rock and has since included leadership roles across Patrol, Investigations, Detentions, Special Investigations, Professional Standards, and Human Resources.
A graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy and a strong advocate for officer wellness and community mental health, Kennedy has led major initiatives, including commanding the South Metro Drug Task Force, securing national accreditations for the Detentions Division, and overseeing professional standards, training, and internal affairs.
His commitment to excellence extends to leadership development, having completed the Leadership Program of the Rockies, Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command, and currently nearing completion of a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Colorado State University Global.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Sheriff Weekly spoke candidly about the significance of this appointment: “One of the most critical things a Sheriff can do is to appoint the person to be the number two person in the organization. Jason is one of the most humble people I know, and he is also one of the most caring individuals I have met in my life. We have been through a lot. Back in the day, we used to catch bad guys left and right. We have a lot of talent in this office. I cannot think of anyone in this organization that means more to me as a person and is a leader in this organization. He is the type of leader that puts himself last. He is truly a good man and person. He is going to take care of the members of this organization. He is also going to take care of this community.”
Undersheriff Kennedy said, “I am honored and blessed at this opportunity to serve all of you and the community, it is something I’m not taking lightly at all, it is a big deal. We have a lot of work to do.”
