(Douglas County, CO) – What started as a terrifying accident has come full circle in the best way.
19-year-old Logan Tasei was riding his motorcycle when he collided with a deer and was thrown into a drainage ditch, unable to get out. Deputy Weiler was in the right place at the right time. He witnessed the crash, responded quickly, and helped rescue Logan from the pipe. Sgt. Romero was on scene to keep things calm when Logan’s dad arrived, providing steady support during an emotional moment.
Weeks later, they met again. Watch video of reunion
For Logan, it was the chance to thank those who helped him when he needed it most. For Deputy Weiler, a new motorcycle rider himself, the reunion was deeply meaningful. He shared, “I got into this profession, I put this uniform on every day, for the primary goal of being able to help somebody. On this particular day, I was in the right place at the right time to be there when Logan needed help.”
They are planning to go for a ride together … with Logan passing along a few lessons from his own experience, starting with rule number one: Don’t hit a deer.
