This afternoon, the President of the United States of America declared a National Emergency due to the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We understand this may be frightening for many people and we want to ensure our citizens that the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will remain open and operational at the fullest extent possible.
At this time, we are not closing any of our facilities, however, to protect our citizens and for the protection of our staff we may ask some additional triage questions during a call for service or visit at either of our law enforcement facilities. We ask for your cooperation in providing this information as we are attempting to prevent unnecessary possible exposure to COVID-19 or any other illnesses. Continuing to provide in-person services to our citizens while preventing the spread of illness is a priority for The Sheriff.
Our Emergency Operations Center is currently open and closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. We are in regular communication with Tri-County Health Department, Center for Disease Control (CDC), and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), and their staff to obtain the most up-to-date information to keep you and our staff safe from COVID-19 while continuing to provide all law enforcement services to our community.
If you are exhibiting any symptoms of illness such as a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, please refrain from going to either of our facilities and contact us at 303-660-7500 so we can determine the best way to get you the assistance that you need. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, as always, call 911. If you are in one of our facilities and are displaying symptoms of illness, we may ask you to return later for your requested services.
