Local law enforcement officers will trade in their handcuffs and badges for aprons and gourmet burgers at Red Robin® restaurants in Colorado and across the country as part of the national Tip-A-Cop® event with Special Olympics. During the event, law enforcement officers will collect special tips from restaurant guests from 11am to 3pm and again from 4pm to 8pm to benefit Special Olympics Colorado.
WHEN: Saturday, October 25th, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 63 W. Centennial Blvd. in Highlands Ranch.

WHY: Supporting local and national causes like Special Olympics that promote the health and welfare of families and citizens in local communities is an important part of the Red Robin culture. Red Robin has been supporting Special Olympics Programs across the country since 2005. This event signifies communities working together to raise awareness for Special Olympics Colorado. People with intellectual disabilities are members of every community. The Law Enforcement Torch Run is committed to raising awareness for Special Olympics athletes and to showcasing their tremendous talents and abilities. Special Olympics Colorado provides children and adults with intellectual disabilities continuing opportunities to realize their potential, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy and friendship. There is no cost for athletes to participate. Tip-A-Cop is part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) campaign. LETR, which includes an international series of relay runs and special events like Tip-A-Cop, is presented by law enforcement officers worldwide to help raise money and public awareness for Special Olympics. The Colorado Law Enforcement Torch Run, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2009, raises money (over $250,000 annually) and awareness to support more than 10,000 Special Olympics Colorado athletes who participate year-round in 20 different sports.
