Douglas County, CO – A series of fast-moving vegetation fires near Highway 85 and Titan Court has prompted evacuations in the town of Louviers. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and South Metro Fire Rescue, with assistance from multiple local and regional agencies, are actively responding to the incident.
As of this release, approximately 130 personnel are engaged in both firefighting (on the ground and in the air) and evacuation efforts. DCSO deputies are working closely with South Metro Fire Rescue to ensure the safe and orderly evacuation of residents in the affected area.
The Douglas County Fairgrounds have been opened as an evacuation site for displaced residents. The American Red Cross of Colorado is already on scene and providing support services to evacuees, including shelter, food, and essential resources.
Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said, “Public safety is our top priority, and we are grateful for the rapid coordination among all agencies involved.”
