(Douglas County, CO) Following a thorough investigation, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested 42-year-old Bradley Fox on the evening of October 1st, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m. for Illegal Discharge of a Firearm (Class 5 Felony). This arrest stems from an incident earlier that day, October 1st at approximately 11:15 a.m., when deputies were dispatched to a suspicious circumstance near Ranch View Middle School. A staff member and a student had reported hearing a loud pop and observing a puff of smoke coming from the bedroom window of a home adjacent to the school.
In response, School Resource Officers placed the school on a secure perimeter, and patrol deputies quickly responded to the area. While deputies were on scene, the resident of the home voluntarily approached them at the school and self-reported the incident. The investigation revealed that the resident believed the firearm was not loaded while handling it inside the home. However, he failed to remove a round in the chamber, and accidentally discharged the round. The round traveled through a window in the direction of the school, and struck an exterior door of Ranch View Middle School. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Mr. Fox was taken into custody without incident and is currently facing one charge of Illegal Discharge of a Firearm (F5). The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The safety of our community, especially our schools, remains a top priority. We are grateful for the quick actions of school staff, students, and our deputies in responding to this incident.
