The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Evidence Section Passes Audit with Flying Colors

As a standard practice, an independent audit of our Evidence Section is required when a new Sheriff takes over. We do a yearly audit of a certain percentage of pieces of evidence as part of our normal accreditation process.
This independent audit was different, though; 70,000 pieces of evidence were reviewed to ensure they had been packaged and processed correctly according to policy and legal standards. The independent auditors reviewed 100% of the guns, money, jewelry, and narcotics that were considered evidence. They then reviewed 10% of the remaining stored items.
The auditors found no discrepancies, which has everything to do with the dedication of the #DCSO Evidence Technicians, Sam, Kris, and Lisa. “I commend our Evidence Section staff on their hard work, as it plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our cases and the judicial process itself,” said Sheriff Weekly. #HonorServiceValor
