Patrol deputies are committed to Community Oriented Policing (C.O.P.) and Problem Oriented Policing (P.O.P.) This universal philosophy means we listen to our residents, businesses, organizations and agencies to learn about crimes. We also use the newest tracking technology to spot and stop crime trends. Once we notice a pattern of crime emerging somewhere, we dedicate resources and manpower to solve and prevent it.

Patrol lieutenants, also called “watch commanders,” are responsible for ensuring that effective methods of C.O.P. and P.O.P. are initiated during their shifts. Watch commanders are responsible for rapidly deploying sheriff’s office personnel and resources to alleviate crime patterns and to improve quality of life in our community.
