Open-field fire on South Lake Gulch Road

2/6/17 – 2:32 p.m.

Additional fire crews are on scene totaling 22 units with 68 personnel from Castle Rock, Franktown, Larkspur, South Metro, Jackson 105, and Douglas County OEM. The brush fire is now estimated to be more than 70 acres.

Lake Gulch road is closed. The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical transformer. There are no injuries reported. Additionally, no animals or homes are threatened.


Castle Rock Fire and Rescue are on the scene of a brush fire near South Lake Gulch Road just south of Castle Rock. No homes or structures are threatened, but residents in the area should be aware.

The fire broke out around 12:30 p.m.

The fire is in an open field on private property. No structures or animals are threatened. No more information is available at this time.
