IMPORTANT: Nationwide CodeRED Outage and Data Breach Update

***IMPORTANT Information regarding on-going Nationwide CodeRED Outage***

Community members, please be advised that CodeRED by Crisis24 has informed all users nationwide of the following information:

“Dear Valued Customer,

Further to our previous communications, we’d like to provide you with an update regarding the cybersecurity incident which damaged the OnSolve CodeRED environment in a targeted attack by an organized cybercriminal group. Our forensic analysis continues to indicate that this is an incident strictly contained within the OnSolve CodeRED environment with no contagion beyond.

We have learned that data associated with the legacy OnSolve CodeRED platform was removed from our systems. While there is currently no indication that this data has been published online, we are proactively informing you that it may be leaked.

It appears that the impacted dataset may contain contact information of OnSolve CodeRED users: name, address, email address, phone numbers, and/or associated passwords used to create user profiles for alerts. If the same password is used by users for any other personal or business accounts, those passwords should be changed immediately.”

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Douglas County 911 Board, has taken immediate action to terminate our contract with CodeRED for cause. Our top priority is the privacy and protection of our citizens, which led to the decision to end our agreement with CodeRED.

The Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a replacement for the CodeRED platform. In the meantime, we can still issue IPAWS alerts to our citizens when necessary. Additionally, we will continue to implement various contingency plans, including outreach through social media and door-to-door notifications, to ensure our community stays informed during emergency situations.

Although CodeRED’s data has not been published online, the Sheriff’s Office encourages all CodeRED users to contact credit bureaus to ensure their personal identifying information has not been compromised. The Sheriff’s Office was among hundreds of agencies impacted by this nationwide cybersecurity attack. If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to CodeRED directly at crsupport@crisis24.com.
