Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Stabbing Suspect Arrested in Kansas

 NARRATIVE: DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO – The suspect in a stabbing incident was taken into custody by Kansas law enforcement in the early morning hours of February 12th, near Lawrence, Kansas.

On Saturday, February 11, 2023, at around 12:18 p.m., Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Target store, 1950 E County Line Rd, in Highlands Ranch, CO., on the report of a stabbing that had just occurred. The caller, a woman, stated that her husband had just stabbed her. She also stated that he stole her car and left the scene. Deputies arrived and located the victim on the north end of the parking lot. She was transported to a local hospital, alert and talking to first responders.

The suspect, identified as Michael Sharpe DOB 070881, had left the scene in the victim’s car. An arrest warrant was obtained, with current charges of 1st-degree assault/domestic violence related.

Through the investigation, detectives were able to determine that he may be in the Lawrence, Kansas area. Local law enforcement was notified.  Early this morning, the suspect was contacted by the Kansas State Patrol, and taken into custody without incident.

“We are extremely grateful to the Kansas State Patrol for their diligence in apprehending this suspect,” stated Sheriff Weekly, “To our detectives, who worked non-stop on this case, they are the best in the business. If you hurt people in Douglas County, we will track you down and bring you to justice.”
