DCSO Drones Track Suspects in the Dark

marker (15)

Last Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m., deputies were alerted to a FLOCK hit northbound I-25 near E. Palmer Divide Ave. on a vehicle wanted in connection with multiple felony crimes, including a shooting in another jurisdiction.

Deputies quickly converged on the area and located a vehicle matching the description exiting I-25 onto E. Plum Creek Parkway. With the help of the Castle Rock Police Department, one of their units successfully deployed the Grappler, bringing the vehicle to a stop at I-25 and Wilcox.

The passenger fled on foot into a nearby creek bed, prompting a coordinated response. A containment perimeter was established, DougCoAlert notifications were sent to the surrounding community, and IMPACT, K9 teams, and drones with thermal technology were used in the search. Thanks to the collaboration, the suspect was located and taken into custody. The individual had multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants out of several agencies.

During an inventory search of the vehicle, drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a 9mm handgun were recovered.

Huge thanks to everyone involved for outstanding teamwork and for keeping our community safe.
