A Free Auto Theft Deterrent & Recovery Program for Douglas County Residents Protect Your Vehicle with DCSO Auto Track

autotrack sticker v2Auto theft continues to be one of the fastest-growing crimes across the nation—and Douglas County is no exception. Criminal groups, often armed, frequently travel into our communities in stolen vehicles, targeting neighborhoods in an attempt to identify another car to steal. These stolen vehicles are not only a personal loss but are often used in committing additional felony crimes throughout the Denver Metro area.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is committed to stopping this trend. In addition to our dedicated Auto Theft Unit—three Detectives and one Sergeant—DCSO offers educational initiatives like Neighborhood Watch to help residents protect themselves.

Now, we’re taking prevention a step further with DCSO Auto Track, a proactive program designed to both deter auto theft and aid in vehicle recovery—at absolutely no cost to residents.

In the event of a theft, the participant may temporarily grant DCSO access to the vehicle’s location to assist with recovery. This is the only situation in which DCSO will have access to tracking information.

You must register by scheduling an installation date above and completing the necessary agreements.

After registering and indicating that you’ll be using your own tracking device, please use the event signup process listed above.

This mandatory sticker serves as a visible deterrent, letting potential thieves know the vehicle is equipped with a tracking device and will be tracked if stolen.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is not responsible for any damage sustained to the vehicle because of the theft.

The DCSO Auto Track participants agree not to retrieve the vehicle on their own and to provide tracking data to the responding Deputy.

It is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to ensure their tracking device is properly maintained and functioning, including replacing the battery as necessary.

If you have trouble pairing the Apple AirTag or Chipolo tracker, please do not contact DCSO, as we cannot provide technical support.
