As we shine a spotlight on bicycle safety this month, we want to remind everyone that safety is a shared responsibility. Whether you’re on two wheels or four, your choices on the road matter.
🚴♀️ Bicyclists:
-
Stay alert and avoid using headphones
-
Always wear a properly fitted helmet
-
Ride in the same direction as traffic
-
Yield to pedestrians and obey all traffic signals
🚗 Drivers:
-
Follow the speed limit, especially in school zones and neighborhoods
-
Check twice for cyclists before turning
-
Give cyclists at least 3 feet of space when passing
-
Never drive distracted or impaired
At DCSO, we’re committed to preventing serious injuries and fatalities involving cyclists through targeted education and enforcement. The Eye-Five training event is completely FREE and is just one of the many steps we’re taking to build a safer, more informed community.
