Former Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Employee Arrested on Sexual Misconduct Charges

On October 20, 2024, DCSO Detectives received information that a female civilian assigned to the Detention Division as a Crew Leader may have been involved in an inappropriate relationship with an inmate.
An investigation was conducted, and there was probable cause to believe a crime had been committed by the civilian employee. The female civilian, Alexis Montoya, DOB 09/09/1981, started with the Office on October 12, 2023. On October 22, 2024, Montoya was placed on administrative leave without pay. She resigned from the Office on December 4, 2024.
A warrant was issued for Montoya, who turned herself into the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office on December 9, 2024, on charges of:
Sexual Conduct in a Correctional Institution- Felony 5-sexual penetration
Sexual Conduct in a Correctional Institution – Felony 6 – oral sex.
A charge is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
“Maintaining the integrity and trust of our Office is a top priority. This former employee’s actions are a serious betrayal of that trust and the values we uphold. This behavior will not be tolerated, and we will ensure justice is served while continuing to hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct,” said Sheriff Weekly.
The case has been turned over to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
