Helitack Team Proves to be a Valuable Resource to More than just Douglas County

Now that we have it, we don’t know what we would do without it. We are referring to our Douglas County Helitack Team, which consists of the helicopter and members of the OEM Emergency Services Unit (ESU). We are so proud of the vital role they played in assisting the communities to our north during the recent fires and other operations they have participated in.

During July, they logged over 48 hours of flight time and dropped 116,000 gallons of water. Specifically for the Quarry Fire, they logged 224 hours of “boots on the ground” time between the 7 ESU members. We believe that the support the Helitack Team provided during the Quarry fire played a significant role in preventing the fire from spreading.

We are incredibly grateful to have this resource in Douglas County. Their dedication to this community and all others they have helped is truly commendable. We applaud their efforts and thank them for their invaluable service.

📸 Shout-out to Windsor resident Kevin Carnahan, who took the photos of our helicopter during the Alexander Mountain fire. Thanks for sharing.
