Inmate Bonding Out Process
In most circumstances, judges will set a bond amount for people who are in jail on criminal charges, which allows them the opportunity to bond out while their case is adjudicated in court. You can find an inmate’s bond by visiting our Inmate Inquiry.
The bond amount is based on the current charges, criminal history, and flight risk associated with the arrestee. Bond amounts are also clearly stated on active arrest warrants. There may be more than one bond if a person is arrested in more than one case. A bond’s purpose is to compel the defendant to return to court. If a defendant fails to appear in court, the judge may impose additional fines/fees, increase the bond in the case, and/ or issue an arrest warrant.

Posting an Inmate's Bond
Bonds can be posted at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office 24 hours a day. The Office will accept the bond in cash, money order, or credit/debit card pursuant to Keefe’s policies regarding credit or debit transactions. The jail also charges a $10 nonrefundable fee for each bond and there is a $30 booking fee charged each time someone is booked into the jail. Per HB 25-1015; Bond fees, booking fees, and other fees or debts never need to be paid to secure a person’s release on a money bond, INCLUDING WHEN BOND IS POSTED ONLINE. A DEFENDANT, SURETY, OR OTHER THIRD-PARTY PAYER need only pay the bond amount in order to secure release.
Bonds may be paid online with a debit or credit card at www.accesscorrections.com or by phone at 866.345.1884. You may also download the free Access Corrections Mobile App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Property Bond
Bond is tied to real estate. Bonds may only be posted at the Court Clerk's office. These bonds are not commonly set.
No Bond Holds
A “no bond” or “zero bond” means the inmate cannot post a bond until he/she appears in court and the judge grants a bond amount. Most arrestees attend their first court appearance for their case at 9:00 a.m. the following business day after their arrest.
Sometimes another agency will issue a “no bond” hold on an inmate. At the conclusion of their local case(s), if any, DCSO will contact that agency for transport. The agency who issued the “no bond” hold request will make arrangements to transport the inmate to its facility. Transport information is not released to the public for security reasons.
