Alleged Thieves Caught after Quick Response by Witnesses and Deputies

On September 6th at 12:20 p.m., DCSO Patrol deputies responded to a theft in progress at a grocery store located in the 9200 Block of South Broadway. Witnesses said that they observed two women swipe whole shelves of makeup and hand creams off the shelf and into a baby stroller. The women then ran across the parking lot to a white Honda Odyssey. The women loaded the stolen items into the back of the vehicle and left. The store reported approximately $1295.00 in stolen merchandise.

Shortly after the investigation began, another grocery store on Wildcat Reserve Parkway and Highlands Ranch Parkway, called in a possible theft in progress. Patrol deputies arrived and saw the white Honda with the same plate that was reported from the earlier theft. Deputies contacted and detained two adult females. The total amount of product taken from King Soopers was $1900.00. Investigators found another $3000.00 – $4000.00 worth of products in the vehicle. The two women were taken into custody for investigation of Felony Theft and Conspiracy to Commit Theft.

“I want to be clear: this type of criminal activity is not welcome in Douglas County. Whether it is cosmetics, jewelry, or cars, we will find you and arrest you if you victimize our residents or businesses. We will not tolerate it,” said Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly.
