Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Annual Award Ceremony

NARRATIVE: DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting its Annual Award Ceremony on May 30th, 2019 at 6:00 pm. The ceremony will take place at Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch.

Every year, the Sheriff’s Office recognizes the accomplishments of many of its employees and members of the community. The hard work and the sacrifice made every day by deputies, staff and civilians does not go unnoticed. Some of the recipients of these awards are nominated by their own peers. This brings a high level of importance and honor to the award they are receiving. Some of the awards are: Purple Heart, Life Saving Award, Meritorious Service, Meritorious Conduct, Citizen of the Year, Civilian of the Year, Deputy of the Year, among others.

In its inaugural year, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has developed the Pillar & Precision Award.  This award will periodically be given to an individual or organization that has made a significant contribution to the law enforcement community through their commitment to excellence in communication, the distribution of balanced, timely and accurate information, their ability to interest the public in the message, and their potential for affecting positive, public attitudes toward law enforcement.  This periodic award also recognizes journalists who have written or produced information for the general public that provides an accurate picture of the men and women who dedicate their lives to the career of law enforcement.

At the same time, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will recognize the students and staff that were injured and/or displayed heroism and bravery during the unfortunate incident on May 7th, 2019 at the STEM school.
