Deputies Catch Two Road Rage Suspects in Separate Cases

(Douglas County, Colorado) On Sunday, July 14, 2024, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received two reports of drivers using weapons to threaten other motorists. In both cases, the offenders were tracked down and arrested. Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said, “We are thankful no one was physically injured or killed. We will not tolerate this type of reckless and dangerous behavior on our roads. We appreciate the assistance of our neighboring law enforcement partners who helped us catch these two individuals.”

The first incident occurred near Hilltop Road and Alpine Drive just after 11:30 a.m. A male driving a gold/brown colored CRV pulled up behind the victim, put his hand out the window, and the victim believed fired a gunshot. The suspect continued to follow the victim closely, passed the victim, and held his hand out the window while firing several more gunshots into the air. The victim was not injured, pulled over, and called in a description of the vehicle and driver. The Honda was located by Lone Tree Police at Ridgegate Parkway and I25. Lone Tree officers pulled over the vehicle at I25 and County Line Road. The driver matched the description provided by the victim. Officers saw a small Glock handgun, along with three bullet casings in the suspect’s car. The driver, 29-year-old Jonathan Wullstein, was arrested on charges of felony menacing, prohibited use of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.

The second incident occurred just before 4 p.m. on I25 at Wolfensberger Road. The reporting party told dispatchers the driver of a dark blue Jeep Liberty pointed a gun at him and continued northbound on the highway. DCSO deputies located the suspect’s vehicle near I25 at Lincoln Avenue and followed the vehicle to Dry Creek Road. Deputies initiated a high-risk traffic stop on the highway. The driver of the suspect vehicle, 39-year-old Anthony Archer, was given commands to exit the vehicle and was placed in custody on charges of felony menacing, prohibited use of a weapon, driving under the influence, and disorderly conduct. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and a black Taurus handgun was located inside the center console with a loaded magazine and one bullet in the chamber of the gun. Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and Greenwood Village Police Department provided assistance.

The charges are allegations, and every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
