NARRATIVE: DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO – On 02/03/2015 at 2:28 p.m., a Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy observed a silver Ford Focus traveling at a high rate of speed through a construction zone in the area of southbound Highway 85 and Castle Gate Drive north of Castle Rock. The vehicle’s speed was estimated to be 70 mph in a 45 mph construction zone. The deputy, who was northbound on Highway 85, activated his emergency lights and siren to turn around and stop the vehicle. The deputy witnessed the suspect vehicle traveling into the oncoming lane of traffic. He quickly lost sight of the suspect vehicle.
The suspect vehicle then traveled through a red light at the intersection of Highway 85 and Meadows Parkway. The suspect vehicle was struck by a white SUV that was traveling east through the intersection. The suspect vehicle then traveled over a median and struck a Douglas County School District bus (no students on the bus at the time of the crash), which was in the left turn lane. After striking the bus, the suspect fled on foot west across the highway and onto Meadows Parkway. He attempted to enter several vehicles that were at the stoplight. One victim was able to drive away from the suspect as he was attempting to open her rear passenger door. The suspect was able to enter a car through the rear passenger door. The driver of the vehicle was able to put the suspect in a headlock and two other witnesses came over to give assistance. The suspect was detained until deputies arrived shortly after and transported to the Douglas County Detention Center.
The suspect has been identified as Roger Levito Trujillo, dob 02/12/1980 booked on the following charges: Bond is $100,000 and he is still in custody.
