An arrest has been made in the hit and run crash that killed Parker resident, Chuck Vogel, who was riding his bicycle on July 4th.
On July 16, 2019, Preston James Dorris, dob 04-29-83, was taken into custody in Scottsbluff, NE on a two Douglas County warrants for charges related to the fatal hit and run crash.
On July 4, 2019, at around 6:25 am, deputies were called to a hit and run crash with a bicyclist on Pine Dr at Centennial Dr, just South of Lincoln Ave in Parker, CO. The crash occurred in front of Parker Core Knowledge Charter School. The vehicle that was involved was found nearby, abandoned in an apartment complex. A Crime Stoppers Alert was sent out to the public on July 9, 2019.
Detectives on the case have worked tirelessly since the crash to locate the driver of the vehicle and their hard work has paid off. This arrest could not have happened without the work of many agencies, to include;

42-4-1601 F3 Failed to Remain at Scene/Give Information and/or Aid after Accident Involving Death
18-3-106 F4 Vehicular homicide
18-4-301 F4 Robbery
18-4-409 F5 1st degree aggravated motor vehicle theft
42-4-1606 M Failed to notify police of accident
Bond is currently set at $275,000.
The case is still an open and active investigation.
