Teamwork and Community Vigilance Lead to Arrest in Construction Site Burglary

(Douglas County, CO)  On the night of June 16, 2025, an alert community member called Douglas County Regional Dispatch to report suspicious activity at a construction site on SSG Chris Falkel Drive. Thanks to that call, deputies from the Grave and Swing shifts responded rapidly and worked together to establish a perimeter around the area.

Deputies spotted two individuals who exited the site and fled on foot. Through coordinated teamwork, deputies were able to apprehend one suspect, identified as 34-year-old Joshua Staup of Englewood, who was found in possession of burglary tools, suspected fentanyl pills, and credit cards that did not belong to him. He also had an active warrant for dangerous drugs. The second suspect remains at large.

Sheriff Darren Weekly said, “A huge thank you to the community member who made the call and to the deputies whose teamwork led to a safe and successful arrest.”
