( Douglas County, CO) This week (National Correctional Officers Week), we shine a spotlight on one of the vital units within our Detentions Division: the Special Operations and Response Team (SORT). SORT is a specialized unit that works full time in the #DCSO jail. They are responsible for cell extractions, high risk transports, civil unrest, and mutual aid.
SORT members undergo intensive training in various tactical disciplines, including crisis intervention, riot control, and hostage rescue, to effectively respond to critical incidents. They play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within the jail, while also promoting rehabilitation and reintegration among the inmate population.
“The members on my team treat everyone with respect. That’s our currency. The first time we meet someone, they’re met with respect. Most of the time, we get that back. That’s how you create a relationship and work through things down here.” – Deputy D. Daufenbach
