NARRATIVE: DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO – This morning, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office positively identified two bodies found inside a vehicle south of Fountain, Colorado. At this time the cause and manner of death has not been determined by the El Paso County Coroner, however, we are investigating this case as a murder suicide which we believe began in Douglas County yesterday afternoon.
The body of a female, a reported missing juvenile, and an 18-year-old male, identified as SAMUEL HOFFMAN of Littleton, Colorado, were both located inside the vehicle last night at approximately 7:45 p.m., by Colorado State Patrol and Fountain Police Department.
Fountain Police Department and Colorado State Patrol located HOFFMAN’s vehicle south of Fountain, Colorado. Upon their approach they heard a single gunshot from the vehicle. At this time it is believed that HOFFMAN died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the vehicle before he could be contacted by police.
“Our hearts go out to the families of both of these young people whose lives were lost.” Sheriff Spurlock says, “We know this is a difficult time for friends and family, we want you to know that we mourn with you. We will work diligently to find answers for everyone involved.”
At this time we are working in conjunction with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and El Paso County Coroner’s Office, Fountain Police Department and Colorado State Patrol on this investigation. This is still an active and on-going investigation. No additional information will be released at this time.
