Crimes Against Persons
The primary function of one detective is to investigate domestic violence cases while the four remaining detectives handle cases involving all manners of death, felony assaults, felony menacing, missing persons, kidnappings, extortion and stalking.
Investigators in this unit have training in interview and interrogation, as well as specialized training in death investigation. Detectives also take part in a domestic violence task force, community service videos, C.A.R.T. (Child Abduction Response Team), CoHIA (Colorado Homicide Investigators Association) and are part of the 18th Judicial Crisis Response Team.
Currently, Crimes Against Person Unit consists of a sergeant and five detectives. Many of the cases associated with this unit are high profile and require lengthy investigations.
