Sheriff’s Office needs help from the public in identifying driver who killed Parker resident

The Parker resident that was hit while riding his bicycle has died due to his injuries and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s help in finding the driver of the vehicle that fled the scene. The vehicle was found abandoned.
On July 4, 2019, at around 6:25 am, deputies were called to a hit and run crash with a bicyclist on Pine Dr at Centennial Dr, just South of Lincoln Ave in Parker, CO. The crash occurred in front of Parker Core Knowledge Charter School.
The Douglas County Coroner’s Office has identified the cyclist as Edward “Chuck” Vogel, age 64, from Parker. The official cause and manner of his death is pending further investigation and will be determined by the Coroner.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s help in identifying who may have been driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. Investigators believe the driver continued South on Pine Drive and turned West onto Main St then into the Town and Country Townhomes, where the vehicle was discovered abandoned. The family of the victim would like to share the following statement:

“Edward ‘Chuck’ Vogel was a loving husband, father, community servant and soon to be grandfather. Chuck’s impact in the community has changed many lives and left everyone he touched better. We are heartbroken by this tragic and sudden loss of such a wonderful man. This person’s actions on the morning of July 4th has not only robbed our loving family of our cornerstone, they have proven that they are a danger to society. We encourage anyone with any information regarding the morning of July 4th to come forward. Our father and husband deserves justice.”
