Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock would like to ask the public to be extremely careful with the use of fire through this upcoming weekend. Today the National Weather Service issued a Fire Weather Watch warning of the onset, or possible onset, of wind and dry conditions that could lead to rapid or dramatic increases in wildfire activity. During these times extreme caution is urged by all residents, because a simple spark can cause a major wildfire.
The type of weather patterns that can cause a Fire Weather Watch include low relative humidity, windy conditions, and dry fuels. We are asking you to extremely careful with anything capable of producing a spark or open flame.
Please be mindful, prepared and report any suspicious or illegal activity to us by calling our non-emergency number at 303-660-7500.
