DCSO Arrests Suspect in Connection to Homicide Investigation
NARRATIVE: DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO – On October 13, 2017, at approximately 11:54 a.m. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office detectives took a suspect into custody for his involvement in the Shelby Weatherly homicide.
The person that was taken into custody is identified as, Mihail Petrov (DOB: 04/28/1980). Petrov was arrested in Denver and has been booked into the Douglas County Detentions Center on the below listed charges and is being held on a $500,000 bond:
C.R.S. 18-8-105(1)(3)/18-3-102 Accessory to a Crime/Murder in the First Degree (Class 4 Felony)
C.R.S. 18-8-610(1)(a) Tampering with Physical Evidence (Class 6 Felony)
C.R.S. 18-8-109 Concealing a Death (Class 1 Misdemeanor)
Sheriff’s Office detectives have been working diligently since the discovery of Shelby’s body on the morning of September 30, 2017. “We take crimes like these very seriously and investigate with utmost urgency,” Sheriff Spurlock said. “We will continue to work very hard on this case until we get justice for Shelby and her family.”

This is an active investigation and the arrest affidavit has been sealed.
No further information will be released to the media by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at this time.
