An 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault after deputies found a juvenile female with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Last night, around 10:12 p.m., Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a house on Little Willow Court in unincorporated Douglas County on a call of unknown trouble. When the deputies arrived, they located a 17-year-old female with a gunshot wound to her leg. She was taken to a local hospital.
Michael Kopecky, DOB 01/18/06, a resident of the house, was taken into custody and transported to the Douglas County jail where he faces charges of 1st Degree Assault F3, Felony Menacing F5, and Prohibited Use of a Weapon M1. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
A handgun was located at the scene.
“I am very thankful for the outstanding work by the patrol deputies and detectives that responded to the scene,” said Sheriff Darren Weekly.
