Chief Deputy Michael T. McIntosh joined the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office as the Chief Deputy of the Support Services Bureau in July of 2021. Michael has proudly served in law enforcement since 1988, serving 31 years in the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and two years as a Commander for the Louisville Police Department.

Chief Deputy McIntosh began his law enforcement career in January of 1988 as a deputy sheriff in the Detention Facility in Adams County. Michael moved to the patrol division in 1990 as a deputy sheriff and rose through the ranks of detective, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and division chief before becoming the elected Sheriff in Adams County. During his tenure with ASCO, Michael participated as a member of the ACSO SWAT Team for 13 years, helped move forward the planning and implementation of the Flatrock Regional Training Center, and served as the first Academy Director of their POST Academy.

Chief Deputy McIntosh has always been involved with organizations that work with, or are directly associated with, law enforcement. These include the Community Reach Mental Health Center Director, Adams County CJCC President, County Sheriffs of Colorado Director, the Western States Sheriff’s Association Vice President, Adams County Communications President, Colorado Peace Officers Standards and Training Director, Adams County Youth Initiative Committee Member, and a Special Olympics of Colorado Director.

Chief Deputy McIntosh is a graduate of; the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command Class 202, FBI National Academy Class 237, National Sheriff’s Institute Class 112, and the FBI’s Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar Class 76. Michael is a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving a tour of duty with the Black Nights Fighter Squadron VF-154 on board the U.S.S. Constellation.

Michael and his wife Cathy have two adult children and are the proud grandparents of three, soon to be four grandchildren.
