Q. How do I get to your office?

Click on Directions under “Help Me With” located on the left navigation.

Q. What is your mailing address?

Address the mail to: Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Division if known (Civil), c/o Employee name if known (Deputy Smith), 4000 Justice Way, Castle Rock, Co 80109

Q. How do I change my court date?

You must contact the Douglas County Combined Courts directly, 303-663-7200.  The Sheriff’s Office can NOT change court dates under any circumstance.

Q. How do I get my car out of impound?

Click on Vehicle Release under “Help Me With” located on the left navigation.

Q. How do I get fingerprinted?

Public fingerprinted is done at the Sheriff's Records unit, located in the Robert A. Christensen Justice Center in Castle Rock.  Fingerprinting is available Monday through Friday, except holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary. To minimize your wait time, we suggest coming in on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. You must sign in when you arrive. All customers are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.  If you leave, your name will be crossed off the list and you will lose your place in line. For additional information, go to "Support Services" on the top navigation bar. Click on "Records" and look for the Quick Links Section titled "Public Fingerprinting."

Q. Can I fill out my fingerprint card before I come in to be fingerprinted at the Sheriff’s Office?

PLEASE DO NOT FILL OUT YOUR CARDS PRIOR TO COMING IN.  For additional information, go to "Support Services" on the top navigation bar. Click on "Records" and look for the Quick Links Section titled "Public Fingerprinting."

Q. What are your hours of operation?

We are open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  We are closed all County holidays. In order to bond out inmates the jail is open 24 hours a day.

Q. How do I get a hold of the courts?

You can call the Douglas County Combined Courts at 303-663-7200. 

Q. How much time do I have to pay my ticket?

There are several types of tickets. To provide accurate information please look on the left navigation under "Help Me With" and click on traffic ticket payment.

Q. Who do I make my check out to?

For Douglas County traffic tickets = Douglas County Traffic Violations Clerk.  For all other = Douglas County Sheriff’s Office or abbreviate DCSO.

Q. Why can’t I have the entire report when it is an accident?

There may be criminal charges involved where the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act prohibits the release of the entire report.  You can have the “face sheet” of the accident report so that you can file your insurance claim.  Click on Obtaining Copies of Reports under “Help Me With” for more information.

Q. What are the surcharges on my ticket for and do I have to pay them?

There are several types of tickets. To provide accurate information, please look on the left navigation under "Help Me With" and click on traffic ticket payment.

Q. How do I find out what is going on with my case or who is assigned to my case?

Call Investigations at 303.660.7548 to find out who your case is assigned to. Contact the assigned detective or patrol officer for further information.

Q. How do I make a compliment or file a complaint about a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office employee?

You may either call the Citizen Comment Line at (303) 663-7209 and leave your name, phone number and any information regarding your compliment or complaint.  If you wish to make the compliment or complaint in person you may call (303)814-7021 and set up an appointment to meet with a member of the Internal Inspections Section in person.
